VIEHÄttÄVÄ is a private sanctuary founded by the Kawakami family, a couple whose deep passion for sauna culture led them to the serene landscape of Tokuji. This sauna surrounded by nature sits beside the crystal-clear Namegawa River, where guests can experience the ultimate refreshment by diving directly into the flowing water after a session. The owner, Atsushi, is a former Local Revitalization Artisan who began his journey with tent saunas in Tokuji—a region steeped in the ancient Japanese "Ishi-buro" (stone bath) tradition. After traveling across Europe to experience authentic Finnish saunas firsthand, he opened VIEHÄttÄVÄ. The facility features both a private sauna cabin and a tent sauna, each offering an exclusive experience for one group at a time. To complete the retreat, the on-site cafe serves delicious lunch and refreshments crafted with an abundance of fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
