Mokuzugani Crab Soup Cooking Experience

Experience

The Saba River and its tributaries, flowing like a backbone through the Tokuji region, have blessed the local community with abundance since ancient times. Among these gifts is the Mokuzugani (Mitten Crab)—a relatively large river crab prized for its rich, flavorful roe and miso. While crab soup was once a staple of Japan's rural villages (Satoyama), it has now become a rare and precious dish. In this program, you will learn the traditional method of preparing this soup, passed down through generations of local mothers. This experience offers more than just a delicious meal; it is a profound opportunity to appreciate the connection between nature’s bounty and the gratitude of receiving a life.
